Name:The Cook's Companion: The complete book of ingredients and recipes for the Australian kitchen Author:Stephanie Alexander Publisher & Publishing Information:Published by Penguin Books Australia Ltd, 1996. Rate:4/5 stars Overview:This is a very handy book for any chefs-in-the-making, or any experienced cooks. All the pages are filled with delicious recipes, and as you may expect, I am yet to try them all! The book is organised into groups using main ingredients - Lemon Curd would be in Lemons & Limes; you would find a Simple Banana Cake in Bananas. The section you are looking in at that present time is at the top of the right-side page, along with the page number, and that is handy as it is hard to navigate in big oaks like this one. The only downside to this book is that is relatively tough to navigate. With at least two recipes per page, and over twenty pages of index, it is hard to find exactly what you're looking for. Also, if you're not an Australian, you might find some of the sections — such as Kangaroo - kind of useless and/or strange. Overall, this is a great book for blossoming chefs, bakers, and cooks, and more experienced chefs, bakers, and cooks too! It is a great book to have lying around in the kitchen, and always has what we're looking for. Did you know that I have used a recipe from this book? Here is the link to it!
